JACK Quartet
"In The Dark"

Big Car Service Center
3819 Lafayette Road • Indianapolis, IN 46254

It’s been performed in New York and L.A.
Now it’s time to bring it to Indy – a music experience critics have called “mind-blowingly good.” It's a concert performed in total, utter, inky darkness. A live musical experience we guarantee you will not forget.

The concert is the JACK Quartet’s performance of contemporary Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas’ Quartet No. 3, "in iij. Noct.”– written with instructions to be performed in 100% pitch dark and the musicians as far apart as possible in the space.

The Brooklyn, New York-based JACK Quartet, one of hippest chamber groups around, has performed this piece in just a few other venues in the U.S. An atmosphere of total darkness—and a rare aesthetic experience like this one—doesn’t come easy. The quartet produces a spectrum of sounds during an instrumental conversation that removes one's sense of space and reality except within yourself.

Help the Ensemble Music Society make “In the Dark” happen at Big Car’s Service Center for Culture & Community on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. We need your help to pay for concert space preparations, to achieve the effects you deserve to experience, and to keep ticket prices low. We need to cover artist fees and a $2,350 budget for rentals, room preparation materials and labor, event security and a reception for everyone attending the concert. Give yourself to this musical experience; give to help make this concert happen!

DONATE EARLY: Donors of $25 or more before January 13 will be able to purchase concert tickets before they go on sale to the public.
